About the tour
Join us on an unforgettable rail journey across five magnificent African countries, discovering the gems of Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
On our epic journey aboard the luxurious 5-Star Pride of Africa train, we travel 5,500 kilometres of Africa's vast continent, passing sub-tropical mountain terrain, skimming the Kalahari desert, and continuing through South Africa to the verdant Cape Province. Along our way we stop at iconic landmarks including the Victoria Falls, the Selous Game Reserve and the Cape winelands, spending time in Africa's great multicultural cities of Dar es Salaam, Pretoria and Cape Town.

Itinerary
Our holiday begins with an overnight flight from London Heathrow via Dubai to Tanzania's multicultural city of Dar es Salaam, set on a natural harbour of the Indian Ocean. Tanzania's first capital began as a coastal fishing village whose name 'Dar es Salaam' translates to 'home of peace'. Now the city is the largest in East Africa - a lively hub of culture, tourism and entertainment - a popular starting point for visitors to the UNESCO-listed Selous Game Reserve, the first stop on our tour.

The Pride of Africa is an excellent experience. Everything is provided and nothing is too much trouble. Luxury - but the African experience makes it interesting and not without incidents.

The positives are that the food and wine on the train were excellent, the staff on the train were fantastic and the various trips from the train to see wildlife and scenery were very well run. The negative was the size and layout of the cabin which was extremely cramped with insufficient space to store clothing etc. In terms of Cape Town it would have been far better if the Robben Island trip had been organised for the afternoon of the last day which would have allowed for a leisurely start to the day and without a rush to pack.
